Ready to order! First production rolling off the line now.
I love the simple design of the IKEA Kallax unit which is a replacement of the IKEA Expedit unit. Who hasn’t owned one? They are everywhere and always in that white color with no texture or character!! Just something very functional which is why there are millions of them out there.
This version is going to use the same highly functional ability of classic cube storage systems, but instead of chopping down new trees (after all IKEA does use %1 of all the global wood out there annually), I'll make it from reclaimed Scaffold Boards and Pallet Wood as shown which is a lot more sustainable and you'll get a unique, one-of-a-kind product.
I’m also going to make a kallax bookcase add-ons such as crates made from pallet wood, steel boxes, doors made from either pallet wood or scaffold boards. I could also make a under stairs storage. You tell me what you want to do.
If you really want to have a nice shelving unit and you can purchase tons of aftermarket inserts then do let me know because I could build a beautiful bookcase that is versatile but definitely not ordinary.
I can make this as 1,2,4,6,8,10,12,or 16 squares.
Contact me if you want to try some other IKEA hacks you may have thought of that would look really cool.

It comes flat-packed in a box and is partially assembled. You will need to loosen 1 screw on each side of the shelf, rotate them into place, and then insert and tighten the provided screws. Get a glass of wine and take 20 minutes to assemble.
The shelf is robust and will hold a fair amount of weight, but not designed for extremely heavy objects. Books, bowls, potted plants, and things of that nature are all perfectly fine.
