Behold these genuine Manila rope Monkey's Fist Doorstops. Manila rope is all-natural and made from manila hemp. Manila hemp is a type of fiber obtained from the leaves of the abacá found in the Philipines. A monkey's fist knot was traditionally used by sailors to add extra weight at the end of a heaving line, used to throw a cable from ship to shore. Put both of these charming things together and you have one lovely doorstop!

The shelf is robust and will hold a fair amount of weight, but not designed for extremely heavy objects. Books, bowls, potted plants, and things of that nature are all perfectly fine.
